Leopard Danio

(Brachydanio Rerio var. Frankei)

Picture
Leopard danios were first described in 1953 and were originally thought to be a species in it's own right but recent genetic research has shown that it is actually a varient of the Zebra Danio. The leopard danio's body is beige with blue or grey spots. It requires similar conditions to the zebra danio and is best kept in groups of five or more. It will do well in planted aquariums and is very hardy and makes a good first fish. Breeding requirements are pretty much the same as the zebra danio.
