Livebearers

Guppy
Livebearers are colourful, popular aquarium fish. The term livebearer means that they give birth to live young by means of internal fertalization through the male's gonopodium. They are mostly good community aquarium species but some such as guppys are prone to fin nipping so care should be taken when choosing tankmates. They like planted aquariums and they may well breed in the main tank with no help from the aquarist. Most are quite small fish but a few can get quite big so check before you buy.
