Marbled Hatchetfish

(Carnegiella Strigata)

Picture
This small hatchetfish is a very pretty fish that is well suited to a community aquarium. The body is silver or yellow and is marbled with dark markings - hence the name. They, like other hatchetfish, have a keel shaped body with a flat top. Their pectoral fins are elongated to provide stability. They prefer planted aquariums and they should be kept in groups. If fed live foods quite often, they may breed in the aquarium and the eggs will be scattered amongst the plants.
