Honey Gourami

(Colisa Chuna)

Picture
The honey gourami is one of the smallest gouramis avalible in the aquarium trade. Initially, both male and female gouramis are a dullish grey colour but don't let you off. When kept in a planted aquarium with other small, peaceful community fish, the male honey gourami will colour up into a stunning fish. The males have black faces and bellies with a bright yellow dorsal fin and a honey coloured body - hence the name. They can be bred in  the home aquarium and like other gouramis, they will build a bubble nest which they will defend from other fish.
