Freshwater Fish

Neon Tetra
Freshwater fish are the most widely kept group of fish in the world. There are many different groups and varieties and they are also easier to keep than their salty counterparts. The term freshwater means that they should be kept in water with a specific gravity of 1.000. This is the equivelant of normal tapwater with water conditioner added. They are also not as sensitive to water quality as marine species. The fish featured in this section are all tropical but there are also coldwater varieties such as the goldfish.
