Creating A Spawning Mop

Picture
Spawning mops are useful as a substitute for plants in a breeding tank. They can be used for fish to lay their eggs on but they may also serve as a place for small fry to hide. They are easy to make and cheap to make too. All you need is a book, a ball of wool and some corks. The book can be as big or small as you want, depending on how big you want your spawning mop to be, and should be hardback. The wool also looks best and will feel most natural to the fish if it is green. All you have to do is wrap the wool around the book around the book 50 times but you can do more or less, depending on how dense you want your mop to be. Once you have done this, tie all the strands together at one end and cut through them all at the other end. You now have your spawning mop. Tie a cork to it if you want it to float and tie a rock to it if you want it to sink. Make several of these to decorate your breeding tank and good luck with your breeding attempts.
