Common Hatchetfish
(Gasteropelecus Sternicia)
This small fish is rather unusual looking fish with it's keel shaped body. They are completly silver apart from a faint black line that is sometimes visible near the tail. They have the ability to jump over 1 meter through the air and are very likely to leap out of an open aquarium. They will do best in a planted community aquarium with other small fish. They leap out the water to either escape from predators or to catch small bugs hanging around near the surface. They are fast swimmers and so they need plenty of open water as well.
