Dwarf Gourami

(Colisa Lalia)

Picture
Dwarf gouramis are small gouramis that are excellent community fish. The males are blue with orange or red stripes running vertically down their body and they have grey heads. Females are much less colourful and are mainly grey. They have long feelers instead of ventral fins. They can be quite nevous fish and they should be kept in a well planted aquarium with oter peaceful fish. The water doesn't need the be too well oxygenated as they have developed a labyrinth organ, enabling them to breath air. They build spectacular bubble nests for breathing purposes and a pair will always stay near each other.
