Tiger Barb
(Barbus Tetrazona)
The tiger barb is a very popular aquarium fish, mainly for it's looks. The body can vary from gold to orange with several black bands running down the body vertically. The dorsal fin is black with a red tip and the nose and tail also have a reddish hue to them. It will do best in a planted community aquarium with other simalar sized fish. Don't keep them with long finned fish such as guppys as they may nip their fins. Keep them in a group of at least six as in small groups, individual fish may be picked on by the others. Tiger barbs are also vunerable to whitespot so check fish carefully when purchasing.
