Cyprinids
Cyprinids is one of the biggest groups of fish in the freshwater aquarium hobby and contains many of the popular groups of fish such as barbs, danios, rasboras and sharks. They are usually good community fish apart from some barbs which may nip the fins of long finned fish and the smaller ones can be kept in shoals with other small fish. They like planted aquariums but some of the larger species may eat plant and so will be better suited to a rocky display tank. Most stay fairly small but some species such as sharks may get quite large and will need suitable accomadation for their eventual size. Click on a catergory below to begin.
